2024年12月24日（火）東京科学大学大岡山キャンパスにて、産学協働プログラム「Hybrid Innovation (HI) 2024」のセッション6を開催しました。
このプログラムは、英国ロンドン芸術大学Central Saint Martins校 (CSM) と共同開発したオリジナルメソッドに基づき、講義・実践ワークショップ・ファシリテーション等を組み込んで全10セッションを提供しています。

セッション6では、前回に引き続き、特別講師としてロンドン芸術大学（UAL）セントラル・セント・マーチンズ校のベティ・マレンコ先生をお迎えしました。今回のテーマは、デザイン哲学の視点から未来を予期し、多様な可能性を視野に入れることの重要性に焦点を当てたものです。

セッションの前半では、マレンコ先生のレクチャーが行われ、未来が歴史の中でどのように扱われてきたか、またそれが現在のデザインやイノベーションにどのように影響を与えているかについて学びました。未来を多角的に考えることで、参加者たちは新たな発想を引き出し、これまでの枠を超えた視点を手に入れました。

この知識をもとに、参加者たちは自らが取り組むHIプラクティスに未来の視点を取り入れました。それぞれのプロジェクトに考えうる未来シナリオを反映させることで、アイデアの精度を高め、プロジェクトの可能性をさらに広げる活動が行われました。

後半のアクティビティでは、東京都あきる野市の地図を使用し、主要となるエージェント（役割を与えられたもの）同士のつながりを考える作業に挑戦しました。この活動を通じて、点在していた情報を結びつけ、全体を一つのシステムとして捉える方法論が試されました。これにより、町の新たな可能性や関係性が明らかになり、プロジェクトの方向性を具体的に明文化するきっかけとなりました。

セッション6は、HIプラクティスの最終的なアイデア出しの段階に位置付けられ、参加者たちはプロジェクトのコンセプトを明確化するデザインブリーフの作成に取り掛かりました。次回以降のセッションでは、デザインブリーフを完成させ、プロジェクトを実際に視覚化する作業が予定されています。

On Tuesday, December 24, 2024, Session 6 of the industry-academia collaboration program “Hybrid Innovation (HI) 2024” was held at the Institute of Science Tokyo.

Based on an original methodology developed in collaboration with Central Saint Martins (CSM) at the University of the Arts London, this program offers a total of 10 sessions that incorporate lectures, hands-on workshops, and facilitation.

In Session 6, continuing from the previous session, we were joined by guest lecturer Dr. Betty Marenko from Central Saint Martins, University of the Arts London (UAL). The theme of this session focused on the importance of anticipating the future from the perspective of design philosophy and considering a wide range of possibilities.

The first half of the session consisted of a lecture by Marenko, during which we learnt how the future has been treated throughout history and how this influences contemporary design and innovation. By considering the future from multiple angles, participants were able to generate new ideas and gain perspectives that transcended conventional boundaries.

Building on this knowledge, participants incorporated a future-oriented perspective into their own HI practices. By reflecting conceivable future scenarios in their respective projects, activities were carried out to refine the ideas and further expand the projects’ potential.

In the second half of the session, participants used a map of Akiruno City, Tokyo, to explore the connections between key agents (assigned roles). Through this activity, they tested a methodology for linking scattered information and viewing the whole as a single system. This revealed new possibilities and relationships within the town, providing an opportunity to clearly articulate the direction of the project.

Session 6 marked the final brainstorming stage of the HI Practice, and participants set about creating a design brief to clarify the project concept. In future sessions, the plan is to finalise the design brief and work on actually visualising the project.
