未来を創る“Hybrid Innovation” 2025：セッション7を開催しました
2026年1月6日（火）、東京科学大学にて「未来を創る“Hybrid Innovation”」2025のセッション7を開催しました。
本プログラムは、東京科学大学とロンドン芸術大学セントラル・セント・マーチンズが共同開発したオリジナルメソッドを基盤に、アート・デザイン・科学技術・社会学の視点を横断しながら、新たな価値創造の可能性を探る全10回の産学協働プログラムです。
セッション7では、これまでに積み重ねてきたリサーチや議論をもとに、各チームが「デザインブリーフ」と呼ばれる企画書の作成に取り組みました。このデザインブリーフは、単にアイデアの概要をまとめるものではなく、その背景にある社会的文脈や課題意識、想定しているユーザー像、そしてそこに至るストーリーまでを含めて整理するためのものです。参加者は、それぞれの項目に時間をかけて向き合い、自分たちの考えを言語化していきました。
このデザインブリーフは、協業先であるロンドン芸術大学セントラル・セント・マーチンズのインダストリアルデザイン分野の学生とも共有され、今後フィードバックを受ける予定となっています。そのため、「どんなアイデアか」だけでなく、「なぜその発想に至ったのか」「どのような視点で社会やユーザーを捉えているのか」といった思考のプロセスを丁寧に記述することが求められました。こうした背景情報を含めることで、より的確で建設的な対話が生まれるための土台づくりが進められました。
後半には、ゲスト講師として 土井理美先生 をお迎えし、ウェルビーイングを研究する公衆衛生学の視点からレクチャーとアドバイスが行われました。土井先生は、今年度の HI プラクティスのテーマでもある「ウェルビーイング」を専門に研究されており、研究者としての立場から、各チームのアイデアに対してコメントを行いました。社会的背景や構造を踏まえながら提案を捉え直す視点は、参加者にとって自分たちの企画を客観的に見つめ直す貴重な機会となりました。
セッション全体を通して、アイデアを「思いつき」から「共有可能な構想」へと変換していくプロセスが強く意識されました。これまでのセッションで培ってきた視点や概念を統合しながら、他者と議論し、外部からのフィードバックを受け取る準備を整える。Session 7 は、今後のブラッシュアップやプロトタイピングに向けた重要な節目となる回となりました。
On Tuesday, 6 January 2026, Session 7 of ‘Hybrid Innovation: Creating the Future’ 2025 was held at the Institute of Science Tokyo.
This programme is a 10-part industry-academia collaboration based on an original methodology jointly developed by the Institute of Science Tokyo and Central Saint Martins, University of the Arts London. It aims to create future value by moving back and forth between the perspectives of art, design, science and technology, and sociology.
In Session 7, drawing on the research and discussions accumulated so far, each team set about drafting a ‘design brief’. This design brief is not merely a summary of ideas, but a framework for organising the underlying social context, the issues being addressed, the target user profile, and the story behind the project. Participants took their time to consider each section carefully, putting their thoughts into words.
These design briefs were shared with students from the Industrial Design department at Central Saint Martins, University of the Arts London—our collaborative partner—and we are due to receive feedback from them in the near future. Consequently, participants were required to carefully document not only ‘what the idea is’, but also the thought process behind it, including ‘why they arrived at that concept’ and ‘from what perspective they view society and users’. By including this background information, we laid the groundwork for more accurate and constructive dialogue.
In the second half of the session, we welcomed Assistant Professor Satomi Doi as a guest lecturer, who provided a lecture and advice from the perspective of public health, focusing on her research into wellbeing. Professor Doi specialises in ‘well-being’, which is also the theme of this year’s HI Practice, and provided comments on each team’s ideas from her perspective as a researcher. Her perspective of re-examining proposals whilst taking social contexts and structures into account provided participants with a valuable opportunity to take an objective look at their own projects.
Throughout the session, there was a strong focus on the process of transforming ideas from mere ‘brainwaves’ into ‘shareable concepts’. By integrating the perspectives and concepts cultivated in previous sessions, participants prepared to engage in discussions with others and receive external feedback. Session 7 served as a crucial milestone for future refinement and prototyping.
