[News] JSPSD-2018 Participants Wanted!

We are accepting students for JSPSD-2018!

〈Do you want to study abroad while you are on the program? 〉

The Japan Summer Program in Sustainable Development (JSPSD), a joint program with Georgia Institute of Technology (Georgia Tech), was held at Tokyo Tech, Ookayama Campus from May 29 to August 3, 2017. JSPSD-2017 was a success!

We will offer the second JSPSD this year (2018)!

In JSPSD-2018, we will provide you with a great opportunity to investigate possible and optimal relationships between ‘Transportation’ and ‘City’, in the context of the SDGs.

＜学内留学、しませんか？ 2018年版＞

第１回目のJSPSD を平成29年度（2017年）5月28日から8月5日までの約２ヶ月、ジョージア工科大学（Gerogia Tech, GT)の正規の海外夏季プログラム(プログラム名：Japan Summer Program in Sustainable Development, JSPSD)が本学との連携のもと、東工大・大岡山キャンパスで実施しました。全般的に非常に有意義なプログラムになったと考えています（参加学生のfeedbackはこちら。その１、その２、その３、その４、その５）。

今年（2018年）も第２回目のJSPSD を実施します！第２回目のJSPSDは、引き続きSDGsを視野にいれつつ、「交通」と「都市」のあるべき関係性を考えます。

講演会のお知らせ 以下の通り、国際協力機構（JICA)　防災・水資源管理　国際協力専門員　 石渡　幹夫氏をお招きして、JSPSDの一部として講演が開催されます。 講演は学内に広く公開しますので、関心のある方はぜひご参加ください（事前登録不要）。なお、講演は英語で実施されることを申し添えます。 JSPSD will host a guest speaker, Dr. Mikio Ishiwatari, Senior Advisor on Disaster Management and Water Resource Management, Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA). He will talk about lessons from the Great East Japan Earthquake through focusing on environmental problems, disposal of disaster wastes, and experience in Fukushima. Ms. Chihiro WADA joined our JSPSD team from June. welcome! 自己紹介―はじめまして。JSPSDに研究員として参加させていただきます、和田千寛です。修士論文は「日本における男性の美容と男性性の関係性」がテーマでした。専門分野は、ジェンダー・セクシュアリティ研究、クィア理論、男性・男性性研究、文化人類学です。その他にも、映画、文学、美術、ノルウェーとチェコの言語と文化などに興味があります。「持続可能な開発」について、このプログラムを通して学んでいきたいと思います。よろしくお願い致します。

The class started off with INTA4813 (Energy, Environment and Policy) poster presentation. Abe-sensei came to look at their posters and listen to their projects, so the main audience was Brian-sensei, Vince-sensei, and Abe-sensei. I got to walk around and talked to most of the groups about their posters as well….
