Here is the quick interview with Prof. Takada.
- – What do you think about GSEP?
I am proud that GSEP is the first English Undergraduate Program in Tokyo Tech. It was a big challenge for the Department of Transdisciplinary Science and Engineering (TSE) to launch the brand new undergraduate program in Japanese and English at the same time. We believe that students also play the important role to establish and improve GSEP/TSE program.
– Tell me about your role in the GSEP program
I was the first Department Chair of TSE during academic years 2016 and 2017. I am also a steering member of GSEP in charge of coordination with Tokyo Tech HQ.
– And your research
I involve in two major research fields.
One is a subfield of electronics, information and communication (EIC) engineering, i.e. wireless communications and electromagnetic waves. For example, in the past my group involved in the study of 4G and 5G mobile systems in terms of radio propagation channels. Now we are aiming at the study of beyond 5G systems.
The other is categorized in the international development engineering, the research field originated by one of our former departments named the Department of International Development Engineering. I work with the research group of Prof. Shinobu Yume Yamaguchi to study about the sustainable introduction of ICT in development projects. The series of the projects in Mongolia and Lao PDR have lasted for more than 15 years.
融合理工学系 高田潤一教授へのインタビューです。
– GSEPについてどのように思われますか？
GSEPは東工大初の英語学位プログラムです。融合理工学系（TSE)にとって、日本語と英語の新しい学士課程を同時に立ち上げることは大きなチャレンジでした。このGSEP/TSEプログラムを確立し発展させていくうえで、学生たちも重要な役割を担っていると思います。
-GSEPにおける先生の役割を教えてください。
私は2016-2017年の間、TSEの初代系主任としての任務を務めました。また、GSEPの立ち上げから携わっており、東工大本部との連携を担当しております。
―高田先生の研究分野について教えてください。
私は主に、二つの研究分野に携わっております。
一つは、無線通信や電磁波に代表されるような電子情報工学です。これまで、私の研究室では第4世代・第5世代移動通信システム（携帯電話）の無線伝送路に関する研究をしていました。現在は、第6世代移動通信システムを意識して研究しております。
もう一つは、国際開発工学とよばれる分野で、旧国際開発工学科*の頃から取り組んでいるものです。山口しのぶ研究室と共に、開発プロジェクトにおける情報通信技術の持続的導入について研究しております。モンゴルやラオスにおける一連の研究は１５年以上も続いております。
*東工大は、２０１６年に組織改編が行われ、国際開発工学科は現在の融合理工学系となりました。
