Visits of Dr. Paul and undergraduate students

On November 1 and 7, 2024, we briefly welcomed and discussed with Dr. Paul Griffiths (Paul) and 3rd year students of the Department of Transdisciplinary Science and Engineering, respectively.

Paul, an expert in atmospheric chemistry and climate modelling based in the United Kingdom, graciously dropped by to have casual conversations with us regarding a collaborative work on atmospheric chemistry modelling and air quality investigations over cities. Together with Dea, Shikan, and Rosey, we exchanged interesting discussions with Paul and received a lot of advice to advance the research.

After which, we had a delightful conversation over Indian curry just close to the campus. Currently, Paul is wrapping up his visit in Tsukuba before joining the faculty of Bristol University early next year.

A week after, undergraduate students dropped by to learn what we do in the GUC lab. Pun, who is currently wrapping up his Independent Research Project (IRP), has kindly volunteered to introduce his on-going work on future climate-change & urbanization impact analyses on rainfall over Jakarta. The students were then given tasks that enable them to conduct simple analyses and mini-investigations related to our works in the lab. Their visit is part of the “Research Opportunities in Laboratories” course that is required for them to take prior to joining a laboratory for their Independent Research Projects.
