Congratulations, March 2024 graduation celebrants!

March 26, 2024 was a rainy graduation day in Tokyo Institute of Technology. Despite this, we celebrated our students for earning their bachelor, masters, and doctorate degrees. From our group, we congratulate the following students who met the requirements in their respective degrees.

KHANH Do Ngoc (aka Satoru, co-advised with Prof. Kanda), Doctoral
Topic: Impact of global climate change and urbanization on the regional climate of megacities worldwide

WORAMETH Chinchuthakun (aka Tan, transferred from Prof. Yamashita), Masters
Topic: Deep-Learning-Based Historical Land Cover Classification Tool from Landsat Images

YOONGSOMPORN Thanakrit (aka Bank), Bachelor
Topic: Spatiotemporal analysis of human mobility over the Greater Tokyo Area from 2019 to 2021

Dr. Satoru will be working as an assistant professor in Hirabayashi-sensei’s group at Shibaura Institute of Technology. He will still be collaborating with us in regional and climate modeling. Tan will be working at a research institute back in his homecountry in Thailand. He wishes to advance his skills in ML/DL before applying for further studies. He remains to be excited in working with us. Bank will continue with his work as a Master’s student with us. He will be a key member for the investigation on the drivers of human mobility.

Well done Satoru, Tan, and Bank!

In addition to these three talented gentlemen, we also celebrated the success of Yuka (Master) and Kai (Bachelor) who also earned their degrees as members of Kanda lab. On the evening of the 26th, we held a party at the basement of the Ishikawadai building to celebrate the students’ achievements. It’s a long-awaited celebration, which was long overdue since the restrictions due to the COVID-19.

As we enter the new semester, we also welcome, in advance, Shikan Nagakta, who is a transferee Masters students. He will be working on air quality datasets over cities in Japan.
