Do Ngoc Khanh delivered a public doctoral dissertation

Last January 9, 2023, Do Ngoc Khanh (commonly called Satoru) has delivered his doctoral dissertation in front of the public and his panelists at the basement rooms of Ishikawadai 4 building at Tokyo Institute of Technology.

Satoru’s doctoral dissertation was entitled “Impact of Global Climate Change and Urbanization on the Regional Climate of Megacities Worldwide”. He presented about the mechanisms and impacts of the joint effects of urbanization and climate change. Urbanization, in his work, is represented by the spatio-temporal changes in urban building morphology and anthropogenic heat emissions. His work and initiatives have helped advanced the laboratory works, with his juniors heavily utilizing his tools and datasets.

The public doctoral dissertation is one of the requirements for obtaining a doctoral degree. To deliver a public dissertation, a closed preliminary meeting was held between Satoru and his panel members last year. The questions and suggestions he received in the public doctoral dissertation will later be addressed in a final close-discussion meeting.
