I Dewa Gede Agung Junnaedhi (a.k.a Jun-san) has successfully obtained his doctoral degree under the GEDES program at the Department of Transdisciplinary Science and Engineering last September 22, 2023. His dissertation title is “Regional to micrometeorological observation in tropical megacity of Jakarta: season, sea breeze and CO2”. He has contributed greatly in the setting-up of tower observations over downtown Jakarta and the understanding of the sea-breeze behaviour and mechanisms in the region. He worked closely with Dr. Atsushi Inagaki of Kanda laboratory.
Jun-san has worked closely with our students, and we did a collaboration on numerical modeling of sea breezes over Tokyo and Jakarta. With a background in meteorology, he has been the point person for the laboratory when it comes to concepts in meteorology and climatology. He is also adept at setting up servers and was helped tremendously in the setting up of servers and PC networks of our group. He likes discussions with the students and faculty and has triggered curiosity for scientific phenomena (yes, not just in meteorology) and motivation for research among the members.
Dr. Jun has returned to his country, Indonesia, and is returning to his faculty position in the Department of Meteorology at Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB), among the top universities in Indonesia. He aims to continue his work and be a bridge between our group and their department in Indonesia.
