Lunch Meetings with Professors and
GSEP Students

Among the important gatherings among students, professors, and staff of GSEP is the casual lunch meeting. While eating home-made “bentou”, exchanging souvenirs, and sharing pizza, students take the opportunity to share their current experiences and encounters in both their academic and daily lives. It also gives an opportunity for the professors to understand more their students and to provide appropriate assistance or advice.

During the last lunch meeting held last October 10, 2016 at the large room at the basement of the Ishikawadai 4th Building, the students shared their experiences during the long summer. Some of them spent time with their families back home. Others chose to remain in Tokyo to experience the cultural activities.

This 3rd quarter, the students also shared the challenges they face and their confidence to overcome them. Representing the professors, Prof. Abe shared the current efforts of the department to prepare for them for their accommodations next year. Also, the students were encouraged to share their testimonies through the GSEP website. Events such as concerts and outdoor activities were also proposed. The students were invited to watch the concert of the two guest speakers during the Visionary Course (1st quarter), Mr. Slavomir S. Kowalewski and Ms. Kaori. A hiking event was also being organized to promote more opportunities for the students to bond together with the GSEP faculty while enjoying the onset of Autumn.
