On April 22 2016, a welcome party for undergraduate students in the Dept. of Trandisciplinary Science & Engineering (TSE) was held in the 1st Student Cafeteria at O-okayama campus.
GSEP students belong to the TSE department, which also consists of Japanese students and other international students outside of GSEP. A total of 58 students (including 14 from GSEP) ranging from first to third year students joined the party.
The party began with an opening speech from Prof. Jun-ichi Takada, the current chair of TSE.
GSEP students had plenty of time to mingle around with their classmates, senior students and faculty staff, while enjoying the delicious food prepared by the cafeteria. All new students were also invited to introduce themselves in front of everyone during the party.
The party ended with a speech from Prof. Hirofumi Hinode, the senior professor of TSE. He also taught the students how to end parties by the customary “Japanese rhythmic hand clap”.
It was definitely a precious opportunity for the GSEP students to get to know other students from the TSE department, and also communicate with faculty staff.
