A Day in a Life of a GSEP Student : Tserendendev Enkhbaatar (Eba) – Mongolia

Hello, my name is Eba (Enkhbaatar). I am from Mongolia and a first-year student in the Global Scientists and Engineers Program at Tokyo Tech. When I was doing my research on colleges as a high school graduate, it was quite hard for me to know what college life looks like at Japanese universities and the quality of study programs from the pool of articles and brochures about them. If you are facing the same problem, I hope I can help you by showing you what you can expect what your daily life will look like at Tokyo Tech.

Today is Monday, the 9th of July. My plan of the day is listed as follows:
1. Get up at 7 o’clock in the morning.

2. Cook for breakfast and lunch. If you want to save your money, cooking at home is much cheaper than eating at cafeteria.

3. Arrive at school before 9am. My dormitory is 45 minutes away from campus by train

4. Take Basic Japanese class (9.00-10.30). It is so much fun to interact with other GSEP students because this course teaches mainly speaking skill to survive in Japan.

5. Take Information Literacy class (10.45-12.15). Currently, we are learning LATEX. In the future, we will write dozens of reports and papers by using this platform.

6. LUNCH Time! I usually eat lunch at “HUB International Communication Space” in the campus where I can meet and chat with new students from all over the world while I’m eating.

7. Take the subject called “Learning through Museum” (13.20-14.50). This is one of liberal arts courses where you have to visit a museum and prepare a presentation as a team. We also listen to other team’s presentation.

8.Work out at gym (15.00-16.00). During this time, gym is little crowded.

9. Go to the library (16.00-21.00). If the library is open 24/7, I would have lived there. There are so many things that you can study in the library.

10. Go home at 21:00.

11. Sleep as early as possible. (Call home before sleep)

We usually have 3 classes each day. I think if I can do the homework and attend every class on time, learning engineering is not that difficult- at least as a freshman student.
