Call for Abstracts: Urban Climate Processes at JpGU-AGU 2026

We are pleased to announce that our session on “Regional and global urban climate processes across multi-temporal scales” has been accepted for the JpGU-AGU Joint Meeting 2026.

As cities continue to act as critical nodes in the global climate system, understanding their interaction with regional and global scales is more important than ever. We invite researchers, students, and practitioners to submit their abstracts and join us for this exciting session in Chiba, Japan.

🏙️ Session Details

  • Session ID: [M-IS13]
  • Title: Regional and global urban climate processes across multi-temporal scales
  • Format: Oral and Poster (Hybrid)
  • 言語: 英語

🔎 Scope of the Session

Throughout history, city development has been intertwined with local geography and climate. Today, rapidly expanding global cities are recognized both as powerful shapers of weather and as areas highly vulnerable to climate extremes.

This session will focus on urban climate across multiple scales. We are asking: What new insights are emerging regarding urban climate dynamics at the regional to global scale? How do we precisely define the role of urban climate in the broader context of global climate change?

We welcome submissions on the following topics:

  • Physical mechanisms of urban climate
  • Quantification and attribution of the urban effect on climate
  • The reciprocal impact of climate change on cities
  • Novel approaches to urban climate research
  • Regional and global-scale modeling and observations
  • Atmospheric chemistry over urban areas
