Welcome to the Symposium of Strategic Research on Global Mitigation and Local Adaptation to Climate Change!

A two-day symposium will be held at Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB), Bandung, Indonesia on Sept. 17 – 18, 2018. A day after the symposium, a technical tour will be conducted covering strategic sites for climate change mitigation and adaptation in Jakarta.

The goal of the symposium is to promote exchange of research ideas and strategies to mitigate and adapt to climate change both on the local and global scale. Everyone who has passion for science, education, and concern for their local environment’s sustainability are welcome to join (free registration with only 50 slots). Presentations will  cover: (1) Mitigation strategy and future planning; (2) Urban climate and sustainability; (3) Urban energy systems; (4) Urban hydrology and sustainability; and (5) Human health and adaptation strategy. After the presentations, a free discussion among local and international researchers, governments, university students, and private companies to design strategies for a sustainable urban development will be held.

The symposium was organized by the Department of Meteorology ITB, Climate Change Center ITB, and Tokyo Institute of Technology on behalf of the S14 project members.

This symposium was supported by the Environment Research and Technology Development Fund (S-14-4) of the Ministry of the Environment, Japan.
