One year has already passed since the first batch of GSEP students entered Tokyo Tech, and from April 2017 they are now officially in their 2nd year. The GSEP students will now be joining other Japanese and foreign students of the Dept. of Transdisciplinary Science and Engineering (TSE) to make up a total of 51 students in the 2nd year level of the department.

An orientation was held for them on April 6th, 2017 at the Design Factory in Ishikawadai Bldg. 5, Ishikawadai Campus from 13:20. Prof. Jun-ichi Takada, chair of the TSE Dept., delivered a welcome speech to all the students. He encouraged them to work hard and set a good example since they were the first batch of the new TSE. Then, faculty and staff greeted and introduced themselves to the students.

Prof. Takada introduced the vision of the TSE Dept. to the new TSE students, and gave a detailed explanation of the whole TSE curriculum, including the classes the students will be taking in their 2nd and 3rd year. This was followed by an explanation about the usage guidelines of the TSE lounge and lockers by Prof. Egashira and myself.

This was the first time all the TSE 2nd year students gathered, and it was a good opportunity for the GSEP students to meet their other classmates with whom they will be attending classes and conducting group work with for the next few years.
